Police officer Lena Jörning is confronted with the first corpse of her professional career and recognizes her sister, whom she has not heard from for 12 years. The case raises many questions: When did Evelyn return? What roles do Evelyn's husband Claas and Lena's fiancé Bruno play in the death? The criminal investigation team arrives to take over the case. The investigation becomes a dramatic journey into the past for everyone involved, which - until then unrecognizable to Lena - overshadows even the present of the entire village.

The film describes the activity of an ABV of the People's Police in its section in East Berlin. A mixture of “positive” characters from the beginning, the extensively staged “owl”, who is introduced as a criminal and over the course of time, especially due to the influence of the ABV, develops into a good citizen, and incorrigible characters, with whom the ABV fails with its extensive attempts at rehabilitation and who are arrested after having committed again offenses.

A summer's day in Görlitzer Park, a place where the heart of the old Kreuzberg 36 still beats. Lupo: former punk rocker, plays the old songs on his acoustic guitar. Hymns to a life between canned beer, world revolution and Lidl. Burni, drummer: When the day is still fresh, he goes to the Görli and plays a round of golf with his caddy Steve. All his life, Michael Hartung, owner of a hopelessly debt-ridden video store, has bet on the wrong horse. When an ambitious journalist confronts him with the results of his research, everything changes for the charmingly melancholy Micha. Many years ago, as an employee of the Reichsbahn, he is said to have organized the largest mass escape in the GDR. Stasi files prove the case. He was apparently even imprisoned and then deported to an open-cast lignite mine. Seduced by a lavish salary, Micha confirms the story, although only fragments of it are true.
